I am supposed to be posting a review for water for elephants but I kinda fell outta love with blogging for awhile. didn't feel like I was getting any reviews, which I actually am not at all. It makes me sad but i will continue blogging if not just to keep up with the books I am reading. please dear readers bear with me in the next few weeks while I update this very blog. thanks for your patience and I look forward to reading the comments.

back with speed to read!

so vacation didn't turn out as fun as i would have hoped it would have. I had no time to read what so ever. i did manage to get one book finished but it was a 50 pager. really good and i am glad that i read it but i wish i would have been able to put that amount of time into the books i had already started instead of a new book. i am desperately behind in both of my book clubs and because the one book is on the computer i haven't found any time to read it. every time i pick up my lap top my daughter screams...its getting annoying.

the book i did manage to read while in florida was called Death from child abuse and no one heard by eve krupinski. its about a little girls struggle to deal with her mothers abusive boyfriend while her mother stands in the side lines helpless to do anything about the abuse because she doesnt want to lose the man she loves. its a horrible story that i would recommend to everyone.  in my opinion children and adults should read this just for the message that it shares. if you've got a bit of time and have nothing to read then look this book up, you will never look at the world the same again. rest in peace ursula sunshine assaid.

Water for Elephants

today is feb. first and what that means is book one for my book club.  I haven't gotten very far in but from what i have read the author does an amazing job of setting up an emotional situation right off the bat to pull the reader in. i look forward to continuing this book and hopefully finishing early. will put up another update when i get a little bit farther in. happy reading!

Once a cowboy

I spent all day reading yesterday, I enjoyed it, but my fiance was upset. needless to say I finished a book. It was called once a cowboy. I posted an over view of the book in the bookshelf tab. Normally I don't read romances, they are too mushy for me but something told me to take a chance. so I did and I have to say that it wasn't bad at all. there was just enough balance between the love of the cowboy and gruffness of the main characters dad. it wasn't overly descriptive when it came to them making love which could be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on who is reading. I feel that the book was kinda rushed though, there are chapters and scenes that develop within the plot that the author could have expanded on a little more then what she does. I didn't have to use a dictionary for this one even though its about private investigators/lawyers. over all it was a very good beach read that I really enjoyed.

broken lookbook

I asked my dad to get me a kindle for christmas, I was told that he couldnt find one but he could get me a close second to the kindle. so i ended up with a lookbook, its called a kindle knock off because its designed just like it. well i got it and it was working just fine, till about a week after christmas, now it wont connect to the internet or to the computer at all. it keeps freezing up, over heating, losing books, and the book mark doesnt always keep your place. all very frusterating. I finally got through to the company and they are supposed to be sending me another one but i havent recieved it yet and its been over a week. they said three to four days. So I sit here and wait for my new one so we can send the old one back and if that doesnt work then when I go on vacation in feburary my dad said he would buy me a different one. this really sucks cause I really enjoy reading on an e-reader. for some reason i feel like i read faster. might not actually be the case but it feels different and i dont usually have to worry about losing my page if i put it down because its automatically saved for me. which works great with a baby. also the books for an e-reader are generally cheaper then a paper book but there are downsides that as well. though its not a kindle i just wish it would work. hopefully my new one will come in soon. all very aggravating.

book club

so I have joined a book club here on blogger, the 2011 ladies book club or something like that. there is a link towards the bottom of my page if anyone wants to check it out. I joined because I feel the need to be motivated to achieve a goal. after my daughter it doesnt seem like i have time to do anything. So I thought maybe if I have to keep up with others I might get back into the swing of reading. I really do miss it.

The first book we are reading starts Feb. 1st. and its called Water for Elephants by sarah gruen. i will post the overview as well, i am excited to start. I have a lot of books that i am reading but hopefully I can make time. i am kinda nervous because its a pdf file and i am unsure how my computer will open it. probably should take the time to find out before the first...oops.  well let ya know what i think when i start!

peach tea

yesterday was my birthday, i am now 22....i feel old. right now i am sitting at my mothers watching my daughter sleep in her swing. i haven't had a chance to do any reading cause everything has been so crazy. my best friend came in from Connecticut cause her mother had surgery. thankfully the surgery went well and her mother will recover. it was nice to see her though cause i haven't seen her sense my daughter was born. i know it hasn't been that long cause my daughter is only six months old but i used to see her every day. she likes to read too. Its one of the things we had in common.

to update on the ms. bradwells, i got a couple more pages in a few days ago and it turns out that there was some kind of murder in the past that is going to be bringing up a whole bunch of secrets from the girls pasts. besides all the law references that i cant understand and the run on sentences that give me a headache its turning out to be a good book. intrested to see what direction it will go.

oh and that reminds me i have to put a page up with the  overview of the books. also i added a page of advice for moms to be. i am learning a lot every day, little tricks that can help a perspective mom to be. if the page atleast helps one person i will be happy. i wish when i was pregnant with my daughter i would have gotten on and found a good advice site with people who i could talk to. raising a kid is a full time hard job.

got to find time to read, better get to it. leave me comments!

lemon tea! yum

so i am sitting here this morning with my little cup of tea wondering how i am going to finish the mass amount of books that i have going already. let alone how i am going to finish the 100 book challenge that i have started on goodreads. seems like so much when my daughter is sitting on the floor screaming and i only get about 15 minutes to myself each day. its days like this that i am happy to be a woman because i can multitask like a mad man.
This week i have started reading the magyk-septimus heap #1 book. its interesting, starts out kinda slowly but does eventually pick up. there are quite a few main characters, mostly centering around the father (septimus heap), his children, and the magical community they live in, or lived it. there is an evil person who has come into the story that has driven the family out of town and is trying to kill them. the big twist is that his only daughter turns out to be a princess and his son that died so many years ago is actually alive and working with his fathers enemy. of course the father doesn't know his long lost son is alive,  and they just found out that their daughter is actually the child of the king and queen that were brutally murdered so many years ago. so....this is how far i am on this one.

i am also reading the four ms. bradwells: a novel. it comes out in march but i happened to have won it on goodreads in a give away. i have a few complaints but over all the book has started pretty well. it starts of with one of the main characters attempting to become a supreme court justice with a couple flashbacks thrown in from their days at law school.  the cool thing is that its staged where i live, in Michigan, so i can relate to the book. my major complaint is that there is a ton of run on sentences, they are everywhere!  and they make my head hurt. it makes it hard to read for too long. also the author uses a lot of law terms that only a law student or lawyer would know and then doesn't explain what the terms mean or how it ties in for the non law known  person. kinda aggravating but over all its still a good read. kind of excited to find out how it ends.

so this is two of the six books i am attempting to finish by the end of February. wish me luck!
